Effective and last updated: September 4, 2026
This policy covers focusarena.dev (this site), the Korean-language build at ko.focusarena.dev, and the Focus Arena Chrome extension (together, the "Service"). It's operated by an independent individual developer, not a company — you can reach the person behind it at ijunsu2082@gmail.com for anything in this policy, including data requests.
This document is written to be an accurate, plain-language description of what the Service's code actually does. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and if you have specific compliance obligations of your own (for example, if you're a school deploying this to students), you should have your own counsel review it.
The timer, character growth, streaks, and site-blocking all work fully signed out. That data — your session state, banked focus seconds, streak, character/avatar choices, and blocked-site list — lives only in your browser's local storage and the extension's local storage. None of it is sent to us.
| Data | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| Display name | Sent to us once at signup, and again whenever you update it — used as your public name on the friends leaderboard. |
| Email address | Sent to us once at signup. Used only to identify your account and, if you ever contact us, to find your data. We do not email you marketing. |
| Password | Never sent to us. It's hashed (PBKDF2, salted, 120,000 iterations) and stored only in your browser's local storage. Because of this, we have no way to see, recover, or reset it for you — see the Terms of Service for what that means if you clear your browser data. |
| Study time | Weekly and lifetime focus seconds, plus a live "studying now" status, are sent to us to power your streak, character growth, and the private friends leaderboard. |
| Friend graph | Your friend code, and the friend requests you send/receive/accept/decline, are stored by us, tied to your account ID and display name — not your email. |
| Custom avatar photo | If you build a custom character from a face photo, that photo is processed and stored only in your browser. It is never uploaded anywhere. |
The ko.focusarena.dev build additionally has optional profile fields — age, region, school/grade status, and a study-goal number of hours. These are optional, only asked during onboarding, and only sent to us if you fill them in.
The site has a "Continue with Google" option ready in the interface, but it isn't active yet — no Google Client ID is configured. If and when we turn it on, signing in with Google will share your name, email, and a Google account identifier with us (never a password), used the same way as an email/password account above.
The extension makes no network requests of its own. It reads a small state signal (whether a timer is running, and which sites you've chosen to block) from a page open on focusarena.dev/ko.focusarena.dev, and stores your blocked-site list and preferences using Chrome's local storage API, on your device. It does not transmit your browsing history, blocked-site list, or anything else to us or to any third party.
focusarena.dev (the English site) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-less analytics service that reports aggregate traffic (page views, rough location, referrers) without tracking you individually across sites. ko.focusarena.dev does not currently run this or any other analytics.
Account data (name, email, study time, friend graph, presence, and the optional Korean-site profile fields) is stored in a Google Sheet, written to via a Google Apps Script endpoint that we operate, hosted on Google's infrastructure. We don't run our own servers or database.
The endpoint accepts posts from anyone who has its URL (it's visible in this site's source, by design — there's no traditional backend), but it cannot be used to read anyone's email or password, and the only thing it will return for a given account is that account's own accepted-friend data.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. It's shared with:
We keep account and study-time data for as long as your account exists. Friend-request history is kept indefinitely (accepted, declined, or removed) so the friend graph stays consistent — this is a record of a relationship between two account IDs, not a message log. You can ask us to delete all of it at any time (see below).
Regardless of where you live, you can email ijunsu2082@gmail.com to:
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. You can exercise any of these rights using the contact above.
Focus Arena requires account holders to be at least 13 years old, and the signup form asks you to confirm this. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account despite this, email us and we'll delete it.
The site is served over HTTPS with security headers (including a strict frame policy and disabled camera/microphone/geolocation access) set at the hosting level. Account passwords are hashed locally in your browser and never transmitted. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we don't collect more than we need in the first place.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the update.
